Ok all you old TV users (Ourselves included). If you use a TV that isn't hooked up to cable or satelite, then you may notice something weird happen at midnight on February 17th, 2009. No, you're TV will not come to life like some weird Toy Story rip-off, but it will stop working. Why you ask? All full-power TV stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch 100% to digital broadcasting. Which means to us, we have to buy a DTV converter box. It doesn't suck as bad as you think though. My boss told me about a governmental voucher you can sign up for and they'll send up to two $40 vouchers towards a converter box. Awesome! To get it, you just have to fill out a simple form at this government site.Click on section 3 and fill out a very short form (Ask for two vouchers). Ours are being sent out in about two weeks.
