i hate comcast

i think the title says it all. does anyone agree with me? i absolutely hate paying the ridiculously huge bill.... but yet we do it. does anyone know a better company to go with for basic cable and fast internet? it drives me crazy that their service always craps out on us too. grrrr... i get really grumpy when i have to pay that specific bill. i'm so lame. (but seriously, i do!)

Who Wants To Buy A Truck?!

Come on...you know you want it. Really though...if you know anybody looking for a truck with a lot of miles that could use a little TLC(Pretty tempting huh?), then send them to our Craigslist ad. Don't get me wrong; it still works pretty good.

LOST

so we are SOOOO excited that this show is back on tonight. for some reason, we are hooked! it is admittedly "out there" but somehow we just love it. i don't know if we'll actually be able to watch it live tonight, its starts at 10 pm. i don't know if my little eyes will stay open that late. but there's always online tomorrow...

Lifehouse Everything Drama from GodTube

Ok, so we're stealing this video from Take A Chance And Dom because we both thought that it was amazing and really moving. If you've ever seen a church drama, you know it can be hit or miss. When we started watching this video, we thought it was going to be one of those "misses" but it turned out to be a pretty good "hit."
What do you think?

weekend recap

so we had such a fun (sometimes sad) weekend. super busy (as always) but really fun.

Friday: I (Jessica) attended a funeral for my dear friend's oldest sister who passed away after a 2.5 year battle with cancer. It was a very somber day, but the love and life of such a beautiful young woman was very apparent. Sitting through the service was so emotional, but there was no doubt that Robin Rozier Groff led a full and significant life. My heart breaks for the entire family but I know they felt all of the support from the hundreds (seriously) of attendees honoring Robin's life. Dave adds that it is such a sad story that you can read about here or watch a short video. It was a terrible reason to catch up with old friends, but nonetheless I was able to reunite with 7/8 of my best girl friends from high school. After the service, I got some one on one time with my friend Katie Coronado; we had a sweet little lunch date at subway that was long overdue!

Then, that night the entire Hale family went out to dinner at Yosemite Ranch to celebrate my 23rd birthday. We ate a yummy dinner, then hung out at Brian and Jacinda's house until almost 11 pm! It was so much fun. We even sang some karaoke. Thanks for the great dessert and present guys! love ya! Then, because Dave and I decided we don't need much sleep, we hung out with all of my friends from high school (3 from out of town). It was so fun just laughing and catching up.

Saturday: In the morning, Dave made had fun making us waffles. He decided to be creative and give them interesting names. I had the "Peanut Butter Passion" which had peanut butter in the batter, tons of pb on the waffles, and maple syrup. Dave had the "Coco Choco" which had coconut extract (Coco) and chocolate syrup (Choco) in the batter and chocolate syrup drizzled on top of the waffles. During the day, Dave and I rode our tandem bike over to vintage days at fresno state. Once again, we were able to spend time with my friend Whitney and her husband Brett, hanging out with their niece and cousins. We ate a great hot dog from jen's interior design booth, walked around, and enjoyed the sunshine. Later that night we headed over to the Armstrong's for Larry's 50th bash. It was so much fun. I got to catch up with all sorts of people from the past, and my aunt, uncle, and cousins from the bay area came down too. Some of our good friends also came over, so the 20 something's represented too! we played a righteous game of catch phrase until about 2 am... Louie" and I were an awesome team and I have to say that I never lost a round, until we played boys against girls. Sorry haley and jen, we just weren't that great! but it was super fun!

Sunday: breakfast with the Armstrong and Infantino family at Sandy's- always amazing. A little guitar hero and napping on the couch back at the Armstrong's house. Then the afternoon consisted of dave and i being quite lazy... and loving it. we watched Juno and Mr. Holland's Opus (we both cried) and just cuddled. I realize just how important spending time just with my man, doing nothing, is sometimes the best part of the weekends. we always agree that we need to do it more often!

sorry this post is so long and boring- i'm just sitting on the couch procrastinating homework and decided to recap the weekend for everyone.
P.S. Jessica wanted you to know that Dave added in the pics and fancy links.

Happy 50th Dad!!!!!

Ok, so for the 4 readers that we have, most of you might know that my (Jessica's) dad, Larry Armstrong, turned 50 on April 16 2008!!! So here is a belated birthday posted dedicated just for him. I picked today because a. no school thus I can justify time making up a post and b. tonight is his birthday bash!
So anyway, the point of this post is just how wonderful my dad is. He has been such an amazing father over these past 23 years! I always felt a little special growing up because my birthday and my dad's are so close together (only 3 days apart). He always told me I was an early birthday present for him, which made me feel even more special! But really here are just a few reasons why my dad is simply the best:
  • he gives the best hugs ever!
  • he has a loud infectious laugh
  • he is such an active person and is always down to go to the batting cages, play catch, play frisbee, play bocci ball, etc.
  • he is a pretty gosh darn good bbq-er (i love that beer butt chicken!)
  • he would take me out on father-daughter dates even when i was too young to understand what that was
  • he listens to all my problems, whether big or small and always helps
  • he set such a good example of faith for us as children
  • he takes me to the rodeo every year!
  • it is never boring to be around my dad!
  • i inherited his big blue eyes... and i love them!
  • he is amazing at guitar hero... yes i did say that.
  • he spoils my brother and i too much
  • growing up he always made pancakes or waffles on saturday morning
  • he is an amazing storyteller. seriously, i can sit and listen to him tell the same stories over and over, and i love it. usually he can make me laugh or cry really hard!
  • the fact that he will help anyone with anything... moving, fixing a computer, physical labor, etc.
  • the fact that he still has a 1987 red pickup truck that he refuses to sell, despite many random offers, because a man needs his pickup!
  • the fact that he would read me books over and over again as a child.
  • his sense of humor
  • his generosity
  • his passion for his job
  • he loves being surrounded by people and loves a good party!
  • the fact that he has a myspace. its amazing!
  • he taught me how to drive a stick shift at age 16 even when i thought i couldn't do it.... it was so worth it! thanks
  • he encouraged me to do anything I want, and told me that I could achieve all my goals! and he really meant it!
  • he is such an encouraging factor in my life; whether it is at elementary softball games, swim meets or water polo games throughout junior high, high school, and college. He is/was such a dedicated fan, always there cheering not only me on, but all of my teammates and friends!
  • the fact that he can make friends with anyone in about 3 seconds
  • he was and is always genuinely interested in getting to know my friends; who they are, what they do, and what makes them laugh (dave's friends too now!)
  • he calmed me down (as best as he could) when i was crying almost hysterically on my wedding day. he even had a comic strip matted and ready to break up my nerves
  • the way that he held it together on the wedding day for me, even though i knew he was just as emotional as i was, but reassured me that dave was a great man and i was doing the right thing. (i had no doubts, but it was still a great thing to hear!)
  • how loving and accepting he is of his first (and only) son-in-law
  • he has set an amazing example of how a man should treat his children and wife! because of him, i was able to choose such an amazing man for a husband! (he and my mom have been happily married for 27 going on 28 years now!
I could go on forever and ever, but I just wanted to let everyone know how unique my dad is and how much he means to me! Thanks for being the best dad ever!!! I love you!

Who We Are

So now that you know about the name and basic theme of this blog, it is time to get to know us. I'm David...I'll be your host and blog the most out of us Hales since I have more free time and patience for this sort of thing. I am also the weird one and will post all the stupid crap you could care less about, but you'll be checking daily to see if I have posted anything new...suckers. Who am I kidding? I do it too.

I feel that a sense of humor is a must and find that it can get you through some tough times and make for some great ones. I like being a little different and having fun wherever I go. New and interesting experiences will always grab hold of my imagination. I enjoy the company of friends and welcome anyone to come stay at Casa De Hale. Friends are truely a gift to be cherished. Family is an even greater blessing. I'm addicted to movies and dvd's and enjoy a good dark beer (More like a porter with some color and flavor, less like a clear, peeish-yellow, light beer...though I will have them both). Anything adventuresome from camping and hiking or surfing to snowboarding, leapfrog to skydiving (Still haven't done it yet) will always excite me. I strongly agree with the golden rule and think that if others willingly and purposefully gave up a little more of themselves for others, then incredible things could happen. If you need anything, give me a call.

One of the most important parts of my life is my wife Jessica. She is truely an amzing woman and I feel so blessed to be her husband. I have never felt more comfortable with anyone else in my life. She gives me hope, laughs at my jokes, encourages me when I feel like giving up, spoils me, and gives a killer massage. She is beautiful, special, and loved. She lives for peanut butter and hates beans, potatoes, pudding, and the ends of food...that's right, like the end of a banana or hot dog. She is very good at swimming, water polo and other water related sports, but is not the most coordinated person on land. I guess you could say she is like a real life Ariel...the little mermaid. She is studying to be a physical therapist and she is one of the smartest people I know. She is neat and tidy like Monica on FRIENDS and also a little prone to spills/messes like Joey. She is an amazing person that is caring and giving with a heart of gold. She also likes to experience new things and see new places. One of her life goals is to go to Greece. She sounds pretty cool huh? Duh! Why do you think I married her? If I could give her more than just one kiss at a time, I would. Love you!

Together, we are the Hales! We were married on January 5th, 2008, by a good friend of ours, Pastor Mike...aka G Lime. We love having fun as most normal people do, but we are not afraid to take some risks to get lifes rewards. We live in a condo near campus. We have a queen bed which will eventually be upgraded to a king as we are not "cuddly sleepers." We're up for most trips or events (Surfing, the rodeo, San Francisco, Virginia, Disney World, farmers markets, open houses, twister, Phase 10, Guitar Hero, eating Peach Harvest Häagen-Dazs, Puerto Vallarta, etc). We love people and can't wait to hear from you.

Until next time...

What The Hale Man?!

Congratulations on finding this truely entertaining, completely useless, and sometimes utterly random blog! We are the Hales (David and Jessica). As the popularity of blogs increased, we found ourselves wondering where our piece of the glorious pie was...so here it is at last.
We wanted the blog name whatthehale, but it was taken by someone who gave up on their blog in 2005; lame. Upon finding this out we said, "What the Hale man?" And thus, our name was made. We hope you'll enjoy reading our blog (Which will most likely be

just David editing and you'll know by the randomness).
So to start, I thought I'd give you some pics that might make you say, "What the Hale."

A Giant sandal was found during my bachelor party.

It's amazing what you can get for free just by asking. Eric and I got the Christmas tree from the Student Union at Fresno State and took it back to our apt. Too bad it was about 8 or 9 feet tall and didn't fit inside. Oh well, we had fun taking it back to the apt by blaring Christmas music and we had the tree standing straight up the entire time.

Just pretendingto pick up the Epcot ball...

I found a little lizard in our room during our honeymoon. I wanted to keep him

I have no idea what this poster in San Francisco was for, but we thought it was funny and we felt sorry for whoever this whore was.

That's it for now. Hope you enjoyed the randomness of this first post. We'll explain more later.
