Thursday thoughts...

So lately Dave has made fun of me, saying that I don't really go to class, that this whole PT school thing is just a ruse. (Let me clarify- 2 days a week Dave works on campus and SWEARS that every time he walks by our 2 classrooms we are always on a break, outside playing frisbee/talking, or standing around in our classroom talking.) I, of course, disagree and say, "Why would I make up this madness?!?!" However, today after some reflection, I must agree with him for several reasons:

My schedule included- watching clips on you tube with our professor, eating candy (which the same professor provided), eating leftover chips and cookies from our bbq last night, eating lunch on the grass outside, starting class 45 min late, getting out of class 40 min early, and giving Amy a massage. I gotta say, I don't mind the first week of school.

Spinning

So I went to a spin class last Saturday morning at Clovis GB3 with my friend Kalia. It was awesome- I absolutely loved it. When the super fit (which is how I judge the value of my workout- by the level of fitness of the instructor) energetic instructor started out the hour of sweat with Missy Elliot I knew I was in luck. Kalia and I looked at each other, like should we dance or spin? It was great. I loved every minute of it- and looked like I had just jumped out of a swimming pool when I emerged from the room. So this week to workout, I figured I would spin again. It was so great!!
Well, 3 spin classes later, I am not satisfied. All of the classes I tried (at the Palm and Cedar locations) were taught by older people, who did not have rocking bodies (I'm so shallow I know), and the music was lame early 90's mixes with a few techno beats thrown down.
Not fun. Definitely not Missy. Today, my class was taught by a very sweaty, very gay (no judgment, just observation), man who barked orders at us over songs like "Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me" and "In the Jungle". How do those songs even go together? Oh and don't forget, we also rocked some Eric Clapton? Are you kidding me?
So, the dillemna is that the lady who taught last Saturday's class was a sub, and I never caught her name!!! I am searching for her still- one more try tomorrow at the Clovis location, same time, and hopefully the original teacher will be as good as my mystery substitute teacher. So my plea to all 5 faithful readers we may have, if you have any information on who this blonde, fit, spinning master may be, please let me know!! I'm dying to take her class again and revive my faith in spin classes.

Breakfast for Dinner

Has got to be one of our favorite things! I love it. Plus, we both thought there was nothing in the house to eat, and yet we just both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and a muffin from Mimi's. Delicious.

The Well

I love our church. It is so awesome. (PS- this is a late post from Sunday). But this past Sunday Brad Bell (our lead pastor) spoke our State of the Church presentation and it was so exciting. We are just growing in so many directions and it's so exciting to see how the Lord's will is moving in our church. I feel so blessed to be part of such a contemporary and real church- one that I am proud to call ours. I'm excited to see how all of these plans work out and what they will mean to the body. Also, the presentation on Sunday was so impressive, Brad- was on his game and utilized powerpoint in a way that was so not cheesy. It was just so encouraging!!!

Beijing Madness

So I really love the Summer Olympics! The winter ones are really not that exciting to me, sorry to all that comment might offend. I'm all about summer: swimming, water polo, gymnastics, diving, beach volleyball, pole vaulting, and the list goes on. I love it- I seriously can't get enough. And is it a little wierd that I always try to imagine myself competing. Like as I sit here and type this I just watched Katie Hoff swim the 100 meter free prelims- and I think, oh I could totally do that. (Now lets be honest, I definitely can not, but I always picture myself there.) Anyone else? Or am I just crazy? Plus, the little gymnasts, my goodness they blow my mind! I only dream of flying and flipping through the air like they do. (When I watch those little crazies compete, I'm full on thinking Physical Therapy- how will they need help when the competition is over. Wow I'm a dork.) But go Team USA!!
-Jess

ps-Dave and I are so into the Olympics we had a party on Friday night complete with a sign-up sheet for games (with prizes). Our friends weren't so much into it, slightly disappointing

pps- the little nasty Chinese buffet just down the street from our house renamed the restaurant from Easy 21 Buffet (i know right?) to Beijing Buffet. appropriate?
